 
{"id":32,"date":"2019-08-21T09:17:24","date_gmt":"2019-08-21T09:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/materials.international\/?page_id=32"},"modified":"2022-01-08T17:24:07","modified_gmt":"2022-01-08T17:24:07","slug":"for-reviewers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/materials.international\/?page_id=32","title":{"rendered":"For reviewers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>Invitation to review<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All submitted manuscripts are reviewed by at least <strong>two experts<\/strong> in the field who are invited to evaluate the <strong>quality<\/strong> of the manuscript and provide recommendations to the editor on whether a manuscript can be accepted, requires revisions, or should be rejected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Materials International <strong>time<\/strong> is highly valued so, in order to be <strong>effective<\/strong>, an initial verification of the manuscript will be performed by the Managing Editor of the journal, on the suitability to the aims and scopes of our publication. The peer-reviewing process will be then organized by the Editorial Office and at least two independent experts will each provide a review report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Invited reviewers are kindly asked to respond to the reviewing invitation as soon as possible, based on the manuscript title and abstract. In case of a declined invitation, a suggestion on alternative reviewers is welcome. In order to ensure efficient and high-quality publishing services, reviewers may ask for an extension in case more time is needed to compose the report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>What to provide as a reviewer<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Invited reviewers are kindly asked to\nprovide a <strong>detailed<\/strong>, <strong>constructive<\/strong>\nreview report containing an <strong>overall recommendation<\/strong>\nfor the publication of the manuscript, by taking into consideration the\nfollowing aspects:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"584\" height=\"519\" src=\"https:\/\/materials.international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/eng2.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-343\" srcset=\"https:\/\/materials.international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/eng2.png 584w, https:\/\/materials.international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/eng2-300x267.png 300w, https:\/\/materials.international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/eng2-394x350.png 394w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>Potential Conflict of Interests<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reviewers are kindly asked to inform the journal editor in case of a conflict of interests that may impair the review report, in either positive or negative ways. The editorial office will check as far as possible before the invitation. However, the cooperation of reviewers is highly appreciated in this regard. In the case of a previous assessment of the manuscript for a different journal, this should not be considered a conflict of interest in itself. Under these circumstances, reviewers could feel free to inform the editor whether any improvements have been made to the previous version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>Confidential and anonymous reviewing\nprocess<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Confidentiality\non the abstract and content of the manuscript is requested from reviewers. The editorial office must be informed in case the reviewer would\nlike a student or colleague to complete the review on their behalf. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our journals operate single or double-blind peer-review and reviewers should be careful not to reveal their identity to the authors, through their comments or metadata for reports submitted in Microsoft Word or PDF format.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case authors wish to\npublish the review reports with their papers, reviewers will be noted in the\ninvitation message, in this case, the open review reports must be signed by\nreviewers at publication. Anyhow, this will only be done with the reviewer\u2019s\nexpress permission. In all other cases, review\nreports are considered confidential and will only be disclosed with the\nexplicit permission of the reviewer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>Always on time<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Materials International aims to provide <strong>efficient and high-quality publishing services<\/strong>. Therein, reviewers are kindly asked to support this cause by providing review reports in a timely manner. Please, contact the editorial office if you require an extension for the review deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>How to perform the reviewing process<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Reviewers that are invited to evaluate a submission to Materials International are kindly asked to prepare a <strong>report<\/strong> containing (\u00b7) a <strong>short introduction<\/strong> to defining the objectives of the manuscript and its main contributions; (\u00b7) <strong>extensive comments<\/strong> on both strong and weak points of the paper; (\u00b7) <strong>specific comments<\/strong> on phrases (line numbers), tables, figures. Formatting issues will be addressed by the editors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guideline\nquestions for the reviewing process are given below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"347\" height=\"325\" src=\"https:\/\/materials.international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/eng.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-342\" srcset=\"https:\/\/materials.international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/eng.png 347w, https:\/\/materials.international\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/eng-300x281.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 347px) 100vw, 347px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>Meeting the ethics<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Material International aims for an <strong>ethical publication process<\/strong>. The reported results should only be submitted for publication here and should not have been published before, even partially. Also, reusing text from another source should be appropriately cited. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The biological studies included in the submitted manuscript must\nhave been approved by an Institutional Ethical Committee and done accordingly\nto generally accepted ethical research standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In case of scientific misconduct, fraud, plagiarism, or other unethical behavior, reviewers are kindly asked to immediately notify the in-house editor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-accent-1-color has-text-color\"><strong>The overall recommendation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, reviewers are kindly asked to provide an overall recommendation for the submitted manuscript, as follows: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Accept in present form<\/strong>, when\nthe paper needs no further changes.<\/li><li><strong>Accept after minor revision<\/strong>, when\nthe paper is mainly accepted, but authors must respond to small reviewer\u2019s\ncomments and questions. A five- days time allowance is given for authors to\nprovide a response.<\/li><li><strong>Reconsider after major revision<\/strong>, when\nthe acceptance of the manuscript is conditioned by the ability of authors to\nrespond and comply to reviewer\u2019s comments.
