Special Issue Information

Aim and Scope: Nowadays, under the 4th industrial revolution (Industry 4.0), the manufacturing industry is experiencing a significant transformation from traditional manufacturing to advanced manufacturing technology. Moreover, advances in the field of material science result in the development of materials with significantly improved and upgraded properties such as superalloys and composite materials in order to meet the demands of various high-end industries, including the automotive and aerospace ones. Consequently, for the efficient processing of these advanced materials, it is required to employ machining methods suitable for processing difficult-to-cut materials such as various non-conventional techniques or even adopt new manufacturing strategies relevant to the promising additive manufacturing methods. Driven by ongoing multiphysics and multidisciplinary research, the aim of this special issue is to couple the scientific fields of advanced manufacturing technology and advanced materials in order to bridge the gap between the development of new materials and their use in various innovative industrial applications. This particular issue is willing to be considered as an opportunity for researchers who work with innovative materials or advanced manufacturing to present their research and review articles related to theoretical, experimental, or computational studies relevant to some of the aforementioned scientific fields.

Subtopics: Non-conventional Machining; Additive Manufacturing; Precision machining, micromachining, and machinability; Simulation and optimization; Advanced materials characterization and testing; Surface modification, texture, and treatment.

  3. make sure that issues about publication ethics, copyright, authorship, figure formats, data and references format have been appropriately considered;
  4. please try to cite only articles with DOI (digital object identifier); also add DOI for each reference;
  5. please add at least 10 references from the last 2 years (2018-2019) in order to highlight the novelty of your work;
  6. ensure that all authors have approved the content of the submitted manuscript.
